We took a trip down to LG’s manufacturing plant in Ranjangaon, near Pune. Spread over 52 acres, it’s LG’s second factory in India and manufactures TVs (including OLED sets) along with home appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners. Yup, you might want to thank the chaps that work here for making your weekend perfect.
The brains of the operation
Enter the TV shopfloor and you come across a control room that looks like it’d be equally at home in a summer action blockbuster. Nope, it’s not the Time Police keeping a check on nasty spacetime violations. Rather, it’s there to help supervisors and factory managers keep a track of what’s happening on the assembly lines.
There are three assembly lines in operation, with varying levels of automation. It takes around 15 minutes for a TV to traverse the assembly line, and with a set coming through every 4-9 seconds, it adds up to a lot of happy families watching the antics of the Bigg Boss house!
